When it comes to following weight watchers, you may be tempted to only eat chicken or fish. Especially because they are zero points. However, a lean cut of pork can still be low in points to make a satisfying meal! If you want to add in the flavor bomb, use a good seasoning. The char from the grill with a blend of salt and fresh herbs is the healthy bite you’ll crave.
Portion Your Own Meat To Save Money!
Typically, I purchase whole center-cut pork loins when they are on sale for under $2 per pound. It’s even better when they are buy one get one free. It saves so much money when you cut and portion your meat in your own kitchen! If you’ve never done it yourself, check out the guide in the photo below. You’ll want to pin it to your Pinterest for reference! Start with your center-cut pork loin, cut off the end pieces for chunks for carnitas or whatever you choose to use them for. Then on each new end, will be the roast portion. Finally, you’ll have about 4 pork chops in the middle! With roasts averaging $3-$4 per pound and chops between $4-5 per pound, this can mean a nice chunk of change saved on groceries!

What other recipes can I make with pork?
If you do purchase your meat in bulk, you can make one pork loin into several different recipes.
- Maple-Balsamic Pork Chops
- Garlic Butter Pork Chops
- Cream Cheese Smothered Pork Chops
- Smoked Bacon-Wrapped Pork Loin
- Garlic & Herb Roaster Pork Tenderloin
If none of those recipes sound good, you can always use Smiley’s Famous Zero Point BBQ Sauce. It adds a nice kick to any recipe, including baked pork chops!
How do I grill bone-in pork chops?

Pork chops require a little more effort than grilling steak or burgers. When cooking beef, the outside can have a nice charred crust and still be slightly rare in the middle. Pork, on the other hand, needs to be cooked more evenly to ensure it is the proper temperature throughout. Stick to a medium setting on your grill to maintain a lower temperature. This allows the pork to cook completely and evenly.
How To Make A Compound Butter

When you want to make compound butter, it sounds more complicated than it really is. When you incorporate compound butter into your recipes, however, it can take the flavor to a whole new level. The process is actually really simple. Start by using a softened stick of butter. Next, mash it together with the herbs and spices you want to incorporate. Then, scrape all that goodness onto a piece of parchment paper and roll it into a log shape. Seal it and put it in the fridge to firm back up again. Next, simply slice off little pats of herbaceous butter to put on meats, vegetables, fish, or even on warm bread. In addition, You can also slice off a piece to add to a pan before cooking to infuse the flavors.
What side dishes go well with pork?
If you’re going to be grilling anyway, you might as well grill up some vegetables to go with it! Simply slice up vegetables, spray with cooking spray and season the same way as the protein choice. This makes a delicious side dish for your meal. I love using an all in one slicer to easily prep my veggies.
My personal recommendation is to get one like this one on Amazon by Fullstar. It has 7 different blades to allow you to slice, dice, chop, grate, spiralize, julienne or ribbon cut your veggies! I prefer to slice my squash, dice my bell peppers and fine chop my onions. With this handy tool, there’s even a storage container underneath to minimize the mess. For example, I use the container to season and prepare before throwing the veggies into a grill basket alongside the meat.
Product Recommendations:
However, keep in mind when assembling the ingredients for the herb rub that it is more of a template than a hard-and-fast rule. We aren’t going for dainty precision with this technique, just a uniform infusion of robust herbal flavors.
What other side dishes pair well with pork?
If you aren’t a fan of Brussels sprouts or don’t want to use the glaze for your side dish as well, then perhaps you would like these side dishes instead:
- Broccoli Stir Fry
- Roasted Apple and Cauliflower Mash with Crispy Brussels Sprouts
- Low Carb Creamed Spinach
- Zucchini & Crispy Onions
