The Best Maple Glazed Pork Chops Recipe: A Family Favorite with a Citrus Twist!

Pork chops are one of the easiest cuts of meat to cook with. The only downside is that they can sometimes be quite bland, so adding some glazing sauce will perk it up. There are many different types of glazes that you can use, but the orange maple glazed pork chop recipe using a zero sugar maple walnut syrup is Weight Watchers friendly and low in points, thanks to this healthy alternative ingredient!
How Can This Be Low In WW Points with Maple Syrup?
Now, what if I told you that as delicious as Citrus Maple Pork Chops sounds, we can put a healthy twist on it by using Walden Farm’s 0 sugar Maple Walnut Syrup? I’m absolutely obsessed with Walden Farms because of the number of syrups they have that are ZERO POINTS because they are ZERO CALORIE, ZERO CARBS, and ZERO SUGAR. Despite all of that, it’s supercharged with flavor. If you can’t find it at your local grocery store or Walmart, then it is available on Amazon!
Frequently Asked Questions About How To Cook Pork Chops
Can Pork Chops Be Cooked From Frozen?
The simple answer is yes, it is safe to cook frozen or partially frozen pork in the oven or using other methods without defrosting it beforehand. Keep in mind that the cooking time will be about half as much longer, for example instead of cooking for 50 minutes, this recipe would take an hour and 15 minutes to cook. Be sure that the internal temperature of the pork chops reaches 145 degrees for safe eating.
What Temperature Should Pork Be Served At?
I have seen a lot of questions asking if pork can be served pink. If you cook pork chops until they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees, there will still be a slight pink color when you slice them open. However, it is perfectly safe to eat! If you prefer your pork chops without any pink, continue cooking them until they reach 155 degrees.
How Do You Tenderize Pork Chops?
That is one of the tricks with adding the orange juice to this recipe. The acidic fruit juice from the orange helps to break down the protein which will tenderize the pork chops.
Are These Healthy Pork Chops For Diabetics?
Thanks to the substitution of using Walden Farms Maple Walnut Syrup instead of pure maple syrup, yes! The sugar content and carb content in this recipe is relatively low, even with the orange juice.

How Do You Make Citrus Maple Glazed Pork Chops?

One of the first things you are taught when learning the basics of cooking, is to prep your area and your ingredients before you start cooking. Just like prepping your meals in advance for the week can set you up for success, organizing your ingredients before cooking helps you cook a successful meal.
Make Your Marinade
Simple process here. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the olive oil and 2 tbsp of the orange juice. Then lay in the pork chops and allow it to marinade for at least 30 minutes.

How To Make The Citrus Maple Glaze

In a saucepan over medium-low heat, stir the remainder of the orange juice, Walden Farms Maple Walnut Syrup and soy sauce. Cook it for about 15 minutes until the glaze thickens. (This glaze is also delicious on roasted carrots as a vegetarian option!)
Baking The Pork Chops
Take the pork chops out of the marinade and brush on the glaze. Spray your baking dish with your favorite cooking spray and lay in the pork chops. Bake for 25 minutes and then apply another layer of the glaze. Bake for another 20 minutes or until the pork is done cooking. Spoon a little of the glaze on top before serving.
