It's finally FALL! Keep reading to see how to make the best Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons.
What is an heirloom tomato?
An heirloom tomato is grown from a farmer using the seeds from one harvest to grow another for at least 40 years in a row!
These tomatoes will typically have a darker color and often have less acid than a more red tomato.
Roast your tomatoes
- Place sliced tomatoes slightly apart on a baking sheet
- Season with garlic powder, salt & pepper
- Roast @ 300 degree oven for ~2 hours or until browned around the edges.
When you roast tomatoes, they will get a nice browning and that can create a darker color and sweeter flavor than you may be used to.
Make Your Croutons
Grill up some sourdough and top with sliced brie for a gourmet crouton for a grown up Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup!
